Acer Blitz Ball
50 Acer employees and their partners arrived at the Hilton Avisford Park in Arundel at lunchtime on a Saturday not knowing what was in store for them. Carrying black shoes, black socks and tights and a number of Red Herring items to put them off the scent, they checked in on arrival and were issued with a clothing coupon and told to report to a conference room at a specific time. Here they were fitted with an authentic military uniform which they chose from a selection of over 300 in varying sizes. An hour later, they were told to report to another room where they participated in dance lessons to learn the art of the jive and the jitterbug!
At 7.30pm guests made their way to their function suite for reception drinks before being seated for dinner on red, white and blue tables. The function suite was decorated with wartime memorabilia, posters, newspaper articles, flags, bunting and camouflage nets. Tables were adorned with dance cards and waving flags and 40s music played in the background.
After the main course the Declaration of War recording was played and there was an authentic recreation of an air raid. A Glenn Miller style 15-piece Big Band with conductor and vocalist started the dancing off, a George Formby look-alike had them in stitches and at 11pm a Vera Lynn style singer handed out song sheets and entertained guests with the likes of 'We'll Meet Again'. The grand finale was a flag-waving rendition of 'Land of Hope and Glory' and Churchill's Victory Speech and guests spent the rest of the evening dressed as Wrens and Officers marvelling at the success of the party!
'The dust is settling and it appears from the feedback in the office that the event was a great success. I would like to thank Spider Events and your team for your efforts in making our party outstanding.' MD, Acer UK |
